About FinanceInImmigrant
FinanceInImmigrant is an independent financial education platform built specifically for immigrants navigating the US financial system. We provide honest, practical guides on banking, credit, investing, taxes, insurance, and remittances — written by people who have lived these experiences firsthand.
Our Story
When Juan Martínez arrived in the United States from Mexico City in 2014, he faced a wall of financial obstacles that nobody warned him about. Banks turned him away without an SSN. Credit card applications were rejected. He had no idea how to start investing, how taxes worked for non-residents, or how to send money home without losing a significant portion to fees.
He spent years piecing together information from dozens of sources — government websites, Reddit forums, expensive consultations with CPAs — information that should have been available in one place, in plain language, from day one. FinanceInImmigrant is that place.

Our Editorial Standards
Every article on FinanceInImmigrant is written or reviewed by a qualified financial professional with direct immigrant experience. We cite primary sources — IRS publications, CFPB guidelines, bank official policies — and update our content regularly as rates, regulations, and product offerings change.
We are an independent publication. While some articles contain affiliate links that may earn us a commission, this never influences our recommendations. We will always tell you when a product is not right for immigrants, even if it pays us more.
