Our Editorial Methodology

How We Research, Write, and Update Our Content

At ImmigrantFinanceHub, every article goes through a structured editorial process before it reaches you. We know that financial decisions have real consequences — especially for immigrants navigating an unfamiliar system — so we hold our content to the same standards as licensed financial publications.

1. Topic Selection

Our editorial team identifies topics based on three criteria: (1) questions frequently asked by immigrants in financial forums and communities, (2) gaps in existing English-language financial content that is actually accessible to non-native speakers, and (3) regulatory changes from agencies like the IRS, CFPB, or SEC that directly affect immigrant investors.

2. Primary Research

Every article begins with primary sources. We do not summarize other blogs. Our writers go directly to official government publications:

  • IRS.gov — For all tax-related information (ITIN, 401k, Roth IRA, FBAR)
  • SEC Investor.gov — For investment products, broker regulations, and ETF guidance
  • CFPB ConsumerFinance.gov — For banking, credit, and remittance rules
  • FDIC.gov — For deposit insurance and banking access
  • SSA.gov — For Social Security and totalization agreements
  • TreasuryDirect.gov — For bonds and government securities
  • FINRA BrokerCheck — For broker verification and investor alerts

3. Expert Review

All articles are authored or reviewed by credentialed professionals on our editorial team:

  • Sofia Ramírez, CFP® — Reviews all retirement and tax-planning content
  • Daniel Park, CPA / EA — Reviews all IRS, FBAR, and cross-border tax content
  • Amara Osei, MBA — Reviews all banking, credit, and remittance content
  • Carlos Vega, CIMA® — Reviews all brokerage, ETF, and investment strategy content

4. Fact-Checking Standards

Before publication, each claim is verified against its original source. Dollar figures, contribution limits, and legal thresholds are cross-referenced with the most recent IRS publications or agency announcements. Outdated figures are never published — if a regulation changes, the article is updated within 30 days.

5. Update Policy

Financial regulations change. We review every article at least once per year and update it when:

  • IRS announces new contribution limits (typically every October/November)
  • CFPB or SEC issues new regulations affecting consumers
  • A referenced law, program, or product changes materially

All articles display their most recent review date at the top.

6. Affiliate Disclosure

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase or open an account, we may receive a commission — at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial recommendations. We do not recommend any product we would not use ourselves. A full disclosure is shown at the top of every article that contains affiliate links.

7. What We Are Not

ImmigrantFinanceHub is an independent editorial publication. We are not:

  • A registered investment advisor (RIA)
  • A licensed broker-dealer
  • A tax preparer or CPA firm
  • A law firm or immigration attorney
  • Affiliated with any government agency

Nothing on this site is personalized financial advice. Our content is educational. For advice specific to your situation, please consult a licensed professional in your state.
